Chain Driven Metal Mesh Belt

Chain Driven metal mesh belts should be considered whenever timing, transfer, or positive belt drive is important, such as for travel up inclines, under heavy loads, for long distances, through quenching liquids, cooking oils, or other slippery conditions. They can provide efficient operation in applications where friction driven belts would not be desirable. Any mesh can be used in a chain driven construction, but the selection is made on the basis of what is needed to support the product. The Balanced Weave should be given first consideration, as it is economical and appropriate for most conditions.

The mesh selection must be: strong enough to support the load; close enough to prevent fall-through; and open enough for drainage and air-circulation.

All Chain Driven belts are driven with a cross member which connects the chain strands by either passing through or under the wire mesh fabric. The cross member serves as a means of connection. The cross member also serves as a means of supporting the load. In some applications, the chains run on tracks or angles which there are no belt supports. This requires careful evaluation of the cross member. The cross member suggested for most applications is either a rod, pipe, or a pipe and rod construction.
